KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Despite a wintry forecast for this weekend, the Michigan Department of Transportation says it’ll carry on with it’s bridge beam setting plans at I-94 and Portage Road in Kalamazoo.
M-DOT says Portage road will be closed at I-94 beginning 7 a.m. Friday, November 18, and will remain closed until next week on Tuesday, November 22.
This means that northbound Portage Road traffic will be detoured on Kilgore Road, Sprinkle Road and Cork Street. Southbound Portage Road traffic will be detoured on Kilgore Road, Westnedge Avenue and Milham Road. During the closure, the southbound Portage Road ramp to westbound I-94 also will be closed and detoured on Kilgore Road and Westnedge Avenue.
The northbound Portage Road ramp to eastbound I-94 will be closed and detoured on Kilgore Road and Sprinkle Road.
Officials say depending on the timing of beam delivery and the Thanksgiving holiday, another closure may be scheduled at a future date.
All work is weather dependent.
