HASTINGS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Michigan State Police have released the name of a teenager who died in a crash in Barry County’s Baltimore Township last week on Wednesday, October 26.
The victim is identified as 17-year-old Zacharee Mason of Hastings who was found to have been ejected from the car during the accident that happened in the area of Maple Grove Road and Foster Road.
Troopers from the MSP Wayland Post responded around 11 p.m. last Wednesday and found a vehicle that had left the road and overturned in a nearby corn field. Mason was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three others in the car were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
So far, authorities say while no arrests have been made yet, the 19-year-old driver of the vehicle is currently under investigation for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. They went onto say that upon completion of investigation to include lab analysis and autopsy results, a full report will be forwarded to the Barry County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
The 19-year-old suspect’s name is being withheld pending the prosecutor’s decision.
