KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Michigan Department of Transportation is getting ready to set some bridge beams at the intersection of I-94 and Portage Road in Kalamazoo beginning in November.
To facilitate this operation, Portage Road at I-94 is scheduled to be closed beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, November 1, with the closure running through to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 6.
During the closure, northbound Portage Road traffic will be detoured onto Kilgore Road, Sprinkle Road and Cork Street. Southbound traffic will be detoured on Kilgore Road, Westnedge Avenue and Milham Road.
MDOT officials say also that the southbound Portage Road ramp to westbound I-94 also will be closed and detoured on Kilgore Road and Westnedge Avenue while the northbound Portage Road ramp to eastbound I-94 will be closed and detoured on Kilgore Road and Sprinkle Road.
Drivers should also expect a second closure at a future date to complete the beam setting, with those dates to be announced once they are scheduled by the contractor.
All work is weather dependent.
