KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A man charged with intentionally murdering a 65-year-old with his car has been determined mentally competent to stand trial according to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday, October 26.
32-year-old Xuan Thanh Vo was accused of killing 65-year-old Sandra Villarreal in a Walmart parking lot in Oshtemo Township on August 9.
Witnesses said that Vo ran away from the scene after hitting his victim, and that two men chased after him onto 9th Street.
According to court documents, Vo told police that he “woke up angry over an ex-girlfriend, and decided he wanted to kill someone with his car.” Authorities say that he also considered killing someone at the Meijer store in Osthemo Township and in Battle Creek.
Vo’s probable cause hearing is expected on Thursday, November 3 with a preliminary examination set for a week later on November 10.
