THREE RIVERS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Authorities have identified the cause of a home explosion in Three Rivers that happened back on Sunday, September 11.
According to police records, the home on 1502 8th Street in Three Rivers exploded due to butane, which was believed to be used to excrete THC from marijuana which is extremely flammable and can cause explosions.
On that night, officers had arrived at the home around 11:40 p.m. after reports came in of a fire. According to police, the house was not on fire when they arrived on scene, but showed to have had an explosion on the inside.
Neighbors told police that they heard one loud boom, and felt their house shake.
No one was found inside the residence during the initial sweep, however, someone did arrive at a local hospital shortly after with severe injuries. That person was listed in critical condition.
