DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Los Angeles Kings handed the Detroit Red Wings their first loss of the young season with a 5-4 overtime victory Monday night.
Phillip Danault scored twice including the game-winner just 1:12 into OT. Gabriel Vilardi, Adrian Kempe, and Anze Kopitar also lit the lamp for Los Angeles, which improved to 2-2-and-0. Jonathan Quick made 29 saves in the victory.
Oskar Sundqvist forced overtime for Detroit with his game-tying tally with under a minute to go in regulation. David Perron had a pair of goals and Adam Erne also scored for the Red Wings, who fell to 2-0-and-1.
Detroit will have a few days off before visiting Chicago Friday.
