KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A jury has found a man not guilty of double murder of a Kalamazoo Township couple.
19-year-old Tikario Taylor-McMillon was found not guilty on all counts related to the murders of 33-year-old Katoya McPherson and 36-year-old Floyd Brashers Junior. The jury returned the verdict after more than 24 hours of deliberation on Friday, September 30.
Both McPherson and Brashers were both found dead from multiple gun shot wounds in their apartment on December 28, 2020.
Tikario’s first trial was declared a mistrial after the jury was unable to reach a verdict after three days of deliberation. He was the youngest of three siblings charged in connection to the double murder.
His sister, 19-year-old Tonesha Taylor-McMillon was sentenced to 19 months for accessory after she testified against both of her brothers as a part of a plea deal.
Tikario and Tonesha’s brother, D-Angelo Davis is serving a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole. Davis had pled guilty to lesser charges as a part of a plea deal, but lost the deal when he refused to testify against his little brother, Tikario.
According to investigators, the double homicide stemmed from a dispute over a car.
