KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A former nurse at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo sentenced by a federal grand jury for tampering with vials of fentanyl.
According to court records, the U.S. District Court sentenced 46-year-old Alison Marshall, who pleaded guilty, to five years probation and a $5,000 fine for tampering with a consumer product.
Hospital records indicated that Marshall checked out the doses of fentanyl for patients, but canceled the transactions, making it seem the fentanyl was returned to it’s inventory.
She was accused of removing liquid fentanyl and replacing it with a saline solution 14 times between July and August of 2020.
According to a complaint filed by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, also known as LARA, Marshall admitted to stealing the drug eight times for personal use.
She was fired from the hospital in August of 2020. LARA suspended her license two months later.
