KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The first Sounds of the Zoo music festival gets up and running today in Kalamazoo, with both indoor and outdoor venues.
The musical showcase will feature 55 bands around town through Sunday, October 2.
It’s the idea of Jennifer Hudson-Prenkert, who wants to support a wide and diverse selection of regional bands.
She says this weekend, there will be performances in Bronson Park and on Saturday, they will set up four busker stations downtown.
The event will also include workshops for musicians who want to hone their craft and turn it into a profession.
The festival begins this evening with a workshop and three bands at Bell’s Brewery.
There is a complete schedule online.
