BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek Police are asking for help in locating the suspect or suspects involved in a drive-by shooting that killed a young child.
Authorities say 2-year-old Kai Rowan Turner died early Tuesday afternoon, September 20 from injuries related to the shooting which took place earlier that morning around 2:20 a.m.
The incident happened in the 100 block of Cliff Street where officers responded to a report of shots fired, and found that the 2-year-old had been shot. Officers immediately rendered first aid to the young boy who was soon taken to the hospital.
Investigation revealed that a dark-colored SUV drove past with someone firing multiple rounds into the home where the child was located, and the only person injured. According to police, initial information showed that the home and the family inside it was not the shooter’s intended target.
