PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Portage’s 5th Annual Portage Community Art Award exhibition opens on Friday, September 16 in Portage City Hall.
The exhibition is set to feature over 20 works-of-art from the 2022 Portage Community Art Award winner, Nancy VandenBerg. The works will be open to the public for viewing Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through November 8.
The award offers a $1,000 prize to the winning artist whose submission best reflects the city’s theme, “A Natural Place to Move.”
VandenBerg, a retired occupational therapist, artist, entrepreneur, and self-made business woman won this year’s award with her work titled, “British Birds.”
The Portage Community Art Award is a part of the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts annual West Michigan Area Show, which is a juried exhibition of the visual arts from community talent spanning a 14-county region, with art ranging from paintings, prints, ceramics, jewelry, and mixed media.
