KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Over 4,400 people have signed a petition calling for safety changes near the campus of Western Michigan University.
The petition comes after two students have been killed in the past year when they were hit by cars.
Craig and Colleen Broderick’s daughter Bailey was killed last November walking across Fraternity Village Drive, and both have signed the petition calling for crosswalks, a traffic light and more.
Kaylee Gansberg was killed in a hit-and-run last month on Fraternity Village Drive.
City of Kalamazoo traffic engineer Dennis Randolph says they are already working on some improvements.
