KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety investigating an early morning fire that broke out at an abandoned home early Monday morning, September 5, (Labor Day).
Officers arrived at the home in the 200 block of Cooley Street at around 5:15 a.m., and found both smoke and flames coming from the structure.
The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes, but as they were battling the flames, a firefighter did suffer a minor laceration to their hand.
They were treated for their injury at a local hospital and no other injuries were reported.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal.
