KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A former Western Michigan University police officer accused of soliciting an underage girl for sex has pleaded guilty to one count of using a computer to commit a crime, a charge that carries a prison sentence of 15 years to life.
49-year-old Abraham Martin Hohnke was supposed to start trial on Tuesday, September 6, but accepted a plea deal instead.
According to court documents, charges of accosting a child for immoral purposes as well as a separate computer-related charge were dropped as a part of the deal.
Hohnke was one of three people arrested earlier this year following a human trafficking investigation by the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office.
He’s scheduled to appear for a sentencing hearing on Monday, October 31st.
