KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Police are investigating two shootings that took place in the city within three hours of each other Friday evening, September 2.
The first one happened around 8:02 p.m. when officers responded to the 500 block of Trimble on a report of shots fired. As they were responding the the call, another came in for someone that had been shot in the 1800 block of Charles.
A 37-year-old Kalamazoo resident sustained a non-life-threatening injury from the shooting and was treated at a local hospital.
The second one occurred around 10:19 p.m. with KDPS Officers responding to the 1000 block of Hoptop to investigate multiple reports of shots fired. While they were responding to that call, another came in for person shot in the 1000 block of Bridge.
Officers found an 18-year-old Kalamazoo resident who sustained life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the hospital where he’s listed in critical condition.
On Saturday, September 03, at approximately 1:56 a.m., officers were sent to the 600 block of Portage to investigate multiple reports of shots fired. As officers were responding to investigate the shots fired call, information was received that a subject arrived at a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim, a 28-year-old Kalamazoo resident, sustained a single gunshot wound to the chest. He is currently being treated for his injuries and listed in critical condition.
Evidence was collected at the scene. No suspect information is available at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
So far, no suspect information is available on any of the shootings, and investigations are ongoing.
