LANSING, MI – Former President Donald Trump is endorsing Republican nominee for governor Tudor Dixon’s lieutenant governor pick. Trump weighed in about 90 minutes after pastor Ralph Rebandt said he wanted to replace former state Representative Shane Hernandez as Dixon’s running mate after he finished dead last in the GOP primary.
The party will choose the running mate this weekend at their convention and Hernandez is expected to be approved. The Trump endorsement could help hold off infighting within the GOP over the choise to be second in command on the ticket.
Trump said he checked Hernandez’s background after talking to Dixon and says he is “an outstanding person.”
