KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety police have arrested the suspect connected to last Saturday’s armed robbery. That suspect then shot at officers as he fled the scene after robbing a grocery store on South Burdick Street near Pratt Road.
Police made the arrest on Tuesday, August 16, after serving a warrant at the suspect’s home on Clinton Avenue in the Edison neighborhood where they found more evidence of the crime.
Authorities say the arrest of the 42-year-old suspect was made on Egleston Road at Shakespeare Avenue in Kalamazoo Township. On Saturday, August 13, the suspect walked into the business armed with a rifle, demanded money, then began to shoot at a clerk and customer who were both inside before driving way.
KDPS officers found him minutes later, driving on South Burdick Street where he crashed a short time later and ran away on foot. The suspect then shot at a patrol car when a pursuing officer got closer.
Police released multiple surveillance footage photos of the suspect on Monday along with a photo of a black mask found by investigators.
