KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man was sentenced to life for double murder of a Kalamazoo Township couple on Friday, August 5.
D-Angelo Davis was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for breaking into a Kalamazoo Township couple’s home and assisting in two murders.
A jury found Davis guilty on two counts of first-degree murder in June.
Both 33-year-old Katoya McPherson and 36-year-old Floyd Brashers Jr. were found dead in their apartment on Decemer 28, 2020. Investigators say the double homicide stemmed from a dispute over a car.
Davis is one of three siblings charged in connection to the deadly home invasion. Prosecutors said Davis’ younger brother Tikario Taylor-McMillon and sister Tonesha Taylor-McMillon helped Davis in the murders.
Davis pleaded guilty to lesser charges a part of a plea deal, but lost that deal when he refused to testify against his younger brother, with that trial ending in a mistrial in March.
Tonesha testified that her youngest brother had shot and killed the couple. She was sentenced to 19 months for accessory after the fact and testified against both of her brothers as part of a plea deal.
