BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek city crews are set to replace broken water valves, which will require temporary water shutoffs and a road closure beginning Friday, July 29, from 10 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., in the following areas:
On Capital Avenue S.W. between Williams Drive and Wahwahtaysee Way
On Wahwahtaysee Way between Capital Avenue S.W. and Valleyview Road
On Valleyview Road between Wahwahtaysee Way and Minges Road
On Minges Road between Capital Avenue S.W. and Minges Forest Road
City neighbors in this area should be prepared to be without water and for a potential boil water advisory when service returns.
Additional information will be made available to the media, and through the city’s website and social media, should it become necessary.
Door hangers will be distributed to the homes affected.
During this work, the entire intersection of Capital Avenue S.W. and Minges Road, will be closed and emergency vehicles will not have access from July 29 at 9 p.m. through July 30 at 4 p.m. A detour will be in place.
Motorist are advised to avoid this area and follow all posted detour signs.
Due to this road closure, Transit route 4S, SW Capital bus, will detour on Saturday, July 30.
Traveling outbound the 4S bus will turn left on Meadow Drive, right on Riverside Drive, right on E. Hamilton Lane, and left on Capital Ave. SW, returning back to regular route.
Traveling inbound the 4S bus will turn right on E. Hamilton Lane, left on Riverside Drive, left on Meadow Drive, and right on Capital Ave. SW, returning back to regular route.
The following bus stops located on Capital Avenue SW, between Meadow Drive and E. Hamilton Lane, will not be serviced during this detour:

Country Club Drive
Francis Drive
Minges Road
Inbound:
Minges Road
Oakland Drive
Francis Drive
Country Club Drive
The regular route will resume once the road is back open.
