ROCHESTER, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Mattawan chiropractor Garrett Soldano was the big winner from the latest Republican gubernatorial debate Wednesday, with Tudor Dixon was the biggest loser, according to post-debate polling conducted by Strategic National.
According to MIRS News, the survey of 380 Republican primary voters found that 31% thought Soldano won the debate, 18% said Ryan Kelley, 17% said Kevin Rinke and 7% said Dixon. Ralph Rebandt was at 3% and the rest were undecided.
By contrast, 42% said Dixon lost the debate, 16% said Rebandt lost, 12% said Kelley, 3% said Rinke and 1% said Soldano. The final 26% were undecided.
Of those asked, 22% said they supported Dixon before the debate. Another 22% said they supported Rinke before the debate. 14% said they supported Kelley and 12% Soldano. After the debate, 34% said they were more inclined to support Soldano, 25% said Rinke, 22% said Kelley and 16% Dixon.
“Garrett Soldano is the big winner of the night,” said John YOB, CEO of Strategic National. “He will get momentum that could be propelled in the final week if he decides to spend his resources on penetrating a similar message on statewide broadcast TV.”
