BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Battle Creek Police Department has been responding to a series of complaints between landowners in the Waubascon Road area, in Bedford Township, since March 2021.
One of the landowners, Justin Schotts, has posted a series of personally-created videos – as many as 65 to date – showing officer and neighbor interactions.
During a recent police response, a Battle Creek Police supervisor responded to the call – Sgt. Chad Fickle.
In the past, Shotts referred to Fickle as “Batman.” When Fickle responded recently, he wore a Batman mask, attempting to insert humor into the long-standing civil dispute between neighbors.
“As much as we value creative responses in all situations, Sgt. Fickle’s well-intended action was done in poor judgment, and was disappointing,” said BCPD Chief Jim Blocker. “As with all police personnel matters, this case was reviewed and addressed.”
The police response to, and investigation of, the complaints between the Waubascon Road neighbors continues.
