KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced on Monday, July 18, seven road projects across the state that are slated to begin this week in 13 counties.
For Southwest Michigan, work will begin in Berrien, Cass, Calhoun and Kalamazoo counties.
MDOT is investing $1.8 million to resurvface 21.4 miles of two state highways: M-51 from the north city limit of Niles to North Front Street in Dowagiac, and M-89 from M-343 in Richland to West Michigan Avneune Near Battle Creek.
Work will include single chip seal, fog seal, overbrand crack seal, and pavement markings.
Based on economic modeling, the investment is expected to directly and indirectly support nearly 23 jobs.
