GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A mass shooting happened in Grand Rapids early Sunday, July 17, and a suspect is currently on the loose.
Police say four people were injured when multiple shots were fired outside a bar in the city’s downtown area.
The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Oaks Street Southwest and Cesar E. Chavez Avenue, near Grand Woods Lounge.
According to the Grand Rapids Police Department, three of the victims were men and one was a woman, with one of the three men said to be in serious condition.
Witnesses told WOOD TV 8 that the incident appeared to have stemmed from a fight, with two of the bullets striking a vehicle with an Uber driver inside waiting to pick someone up.
Roads in the immediate area were blocked off while investigators worked the scene.
