KANSAS CITY, MO (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kansas City Royals swept the Detroit Tigers Monday in a day-night doubleheader.
Kansas City topped Detroit 3-1 in the first game. Vinnie Pasquantino went two-for-four at the plate for the Royals with a solo homer and two RBI. Brad Keller held the Tigers to one run over seven innings of work.
Michael Pineda was charged with the loss after allowing three runs, two of them earned, over five and a third innings.
Kansas City then cruised to a 7-3 victory in the second game of the twin-bill. Bobby Witt Jr. led the way for the Royals after going four-for-five with three RBI.
Javier Baez, Miguel Cabrera, and Jeimer Candelario each drove in a run for Detroit in defeat.
After winning six straight games, the Tigers have lost four in a row to drop to 36-and-51. They play at Kansas City again tonight. The opening pitch is set for 8:10 p.m. EDT.
