PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A water main replacement project is prompting a boil water advisory to start at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, in Portage.
The advisory is in effect on Lovers Lane from I-94 to 300 feet south of Kilgore Road.
Officials say that everyone in the affected area should boil their water for two minutes before consuming it, and that it will be safe to bathe in the water without boiling it.
At 5 p.m., city crews will shut the water off, which will cause a temporary loss in pressure which can allow bacteria to enter the system.
The advisory is expected to lifted by Sunday, July 10.
