EAST LANSING, MI — Michigan State University will have to add some dollars to their athletic travel budget now that the Big Ten will expand to 16 schools with the additions of UCLA and the University of Southern California in 2024-25.
The Detroit Free Press reports Big Ten presidents met Wednesday to discuss which West Coast schools they wanted, with USC and UCLA being the best options. This is the fourth expansion for the Big Ten since adding Penn State in 1990.
The conference switch for UCLA and USC will include all men’s and women’s varsity sports with competition set to begin in the fall of 2024.
