KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Beginning on Wednesday, June 29, residents on Kalamazoo’s south side will be able to fish in Milham Park, and in the nearby Blanche Hull Park.
Now that the Milham Park Dam has been removed and Portage Creek restored to its natural course, the State has expressed interest in stocking the waterway with trout.
Because the creek is exposed through the green area and relatively shallow, Parks officials say it would provide an opportunity for anglers of all ages.
Removing the dam was just one of the big changes coming to the park across from Loy Norris at Kilgore and South Burdick.
The City Commission has also approved upgrading the playground and picnic areas, and other improvements.
