SPRINGFIELD, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for the driver who crashed a stolen truck into a Battle Creek area business Friday morning, June 24.
Authorities say police responded to a report of a vehicle into Nature’s Hair Salon at 257 North 20th Street in Springfield.
On scene, deputies found that the truck had not only hit the salon, but had also struck a gas main, causing a large gas leak in the area. Deputies report that a white male driver had fled the area prior to their arrival.
The gas leak caused North 20th Street to be closed while Semco Gas worked to turn off the gas and secure the scene to make it safe.
Deputies learned that the truck had been stolen earlier out of Battle Creek, and was turned over to the Battle Creek Police Department.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office at 269- 781-0880 or Silent Observer at 269- 964-3888.
