EAST LANSING, MI — The Michigan State University Board of Trustees on Friday morning approved a 3% tuition increase for most undergraduates beginning with the fall semester for 2022-23.
The increase for students attending the state’s second-largest university was actually set last June and formally approved at the Friday meeting. The bump means that tuition for full-time resident undergraduate students who are undergrad freshmen and sophomores this fall will increase to almost $21,000 annually.
In addition, the school added nearly $12 million in the budget to boost in financial aid for those who qualify that will result in no out-of-pocket increase for students with family incomes of less than $75,000 a year.
Board members also approved MSU’s overall budget of nearly $1.6 billion.
