DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Detroit Pistons stole the headlines at the 2022 NBA Draft.
Detroit drafted Purdue guard Jaden Ivey with the fifth overall pick, before acquiring the draft rights to center Jalen Duren in a multi-team trade, which also included Kemba Walker.
The Pistons are reportedly set to work on a buyout with the veteran guard, who has one year left on his deal.
The Orlando Magic are surprised some at the NBA Draft. With the first overall pick the Magic selected Duke forward Paolo Banchero. The 19-year-old is the fifth Blue Devil to be taken with the first pick in the draft.
Banchero joins Art Heyman, Elton Brand, Kyrie Irving, and Zion Williamson as the other first overall picks out of Duke. The Blue Devils produced the most talent in this year’s draft with five former Duke players being selected.
Gonzaga center Chet Holmgren was taken second by the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Auburn forward Jabari Smith Jr. went third overall to the Houston Rockets.
