LANSING, MI — It will be dangerously hot today in the Lower Peninsula. Heat indices will be over 100 degrees and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is warning people of the issue of heat exhaustion and heat stroke that can kill.
Heat stroke happens when the body can’t regulate temperature. People are being advised to drink plenty of water, limit outdoor activities, spend time in air conditioning, and wear sunscreen.
Cooling centers are open across mid-Michigan. Local offiicals recommend those who need relief go to local malls, community centers, libraries and local government offices to cool if necessary.
