MILTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office investigating a shooting that broke out at a part early Saturday morning, June 11.
It happened in the 33000 block of Bertrand Street in Milton Township. Cass County Dispatch received a call around 3:20 a.m. from Lakeland Niles Hospital that they were treating a 44-year-old Niles resident for gunshot wounds in the Emergency Department.
Authorities say the victim was at a party when a fight started between at least 4 people. Witnesses stated that one individual pulled out a handgun and started shooting.
The victim and the shooter are believed to have known each other at the time of the incident.
The suspect has not been apprehended but investigators believe there is no danger to the public as a result of this incident.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Edwardsburg Police Department, Niles City Police Department, and Berrien County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident remains under investigation.
