KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A former Western Michigan University student who has been living in Florida is headed to court in Kalamazoo, based on evidence uncovered by the Kalamazoo Sexual Assault Kit Initiative team.
Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Getting says Cameron Alvarez is scheduled to be arraigned in 8th District Court on two counts of Criminal Sexual Assault First Degree. Alvarez was recently arrested in Port St. Lucie Florida where he has resided since approximately 2015.
The charges in this case were brought after an extensive investigation by the Kalamazoo Sexual Assault Kit Initiative team. The charges allege Alvarez sexually assaulted a Western Michigan University student in her dorm while he was also a student at Western Michigan University in January 2010.
Alvarez grew up in Rochester Hills, Michigan and has also lived in Kalamazoo, East Lansing, Detroit, Pima AR, Tucson AZ, and Port St. Lucie, Florida.
