KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts Fair is back in person Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4. at Bronson Park.
The Arts Fair will open Friday at 12 p.m., granting artists the much-anticipated time to reconnect with the region’s art community, showcase their work, and
share stories about how their art came to be.
This year’s Arts Fair is featuring artists from across the Midwest, including Fort Wayne, Indiana jewelry artist Steven Shaikh who has been jury-selected to the Arts Fair for nearly 10 years. He shares that being in person again makes a big impact on not only his sales but the overall story of his business.
“I’m a people person so selling my work online was a struggle during the pandemic,” said Shaikh. “There is nothing like being able to connect with people face to face. My art is not just my work, but it’s a piece of me.”
First-time Arts Fair artist Olivia Mendoza said, “I love interacting with people who come to shop. Even if I don’t make a sale, it’s also about talking with art enthusiasts like me.”
Over 100 fine artists will take part in this unique two-day art experience, bringing works in jewelry, photography, sculpture, painting, ceramics, glass, fiber, leather, wood, and more to Kalamazoo.
This year, visitors can enjoy shopping, live entertainment, the Bell’s Beer garden, food trucks, and family-friendly activities.
