PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – State Rep. Christine Morse (D-Texas Township) this evening is hosting a school safety town hall.
Morse says she will be going over updates on gun violence prevention legislation, talking with school administrators and educators about the steps they have taken to improve safety in schools and discussing how the Legislature can aid in those efforts. Morse will be joined by special guest panelists who have experience responding to school safety issues, including a presentation from Moms Demand Action about their Be SMART safety program.
After the panel discussion, there will be a question and answer period with the audience.
Guests joining Morse for the panel discussion are Randy Fleenor, superintendent of Mattawan Consolidated Schools; Michael Pascoe, assistant superintendent of Portage Public Schools; Officer Henry Kite, school resource officer for Portage Public Schools and Police Department; Rick Omilian, advocate at Moms Demand Action and Becky Moon, West Middle School counselor for Portage Public Schools.
The School Safety Town Hall will take place Thursday, May 26 at 6:00 p.m. at Schrier Park Building, 850 W. Osterhout Road in Portage.
It is open to the public and will be shared via livestream on Representative Morse’s Facebook page.
