KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — They missed Earth Day by a couple of weeks, but Western Michigan University officials are doing their part to save the planet by using solar power to charge electric cars.
Ten years after putting up the solar array near the Miller Auditorium Parking Ramp, they are announcing on Wednesday, May 11, that they have doubled the number of cars that they can charge on campus at any one time.
They have installed 10 new, state-of-the-art ChargePoint units capable of powering up to 20 vehicles, and plan to snip the ribbon on the new charging stations at 10:00 a.m. near the parking ramp.
