KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — WMU’s President has announced a third wave of programs designed to make use of that half-billion dollar donation they received last year, from billionaire alums.
Dr. Edward Montgomery announced to the EMU Board of Trustees on Thursday, April 21, that they plan to hire “Navigators” who will help new students get the help they need to find services and work through University bureaucracy.
Montgomery said they also plan to fund student internships in local agencies and corporations, along with setting up a mental health program to help students who are having problems coping.
He says the current plan is to have them in place by this fall term.
The University announced “The Bronco Promise” in December 2021 to help students with tuition to include a separate program to assist students in need with housing in February.
