KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Following a federal judge’s ruling in Florida Monday that struck down the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s directive and the Transportation Security Administration announcement that it would no longer be enforcing the mask mandate on public transportation, local bus systems are also dropping their mandate.
In Kalamazoo, masks are no longer required effective Tuesday for Metro buses and facilities. Kalamazoo Metro Transit made the announcement on Twitter, but reminding people to only ride the bus when healthy to “protect your driver and the community.”
Officials with the Biden administration late Tuesday said they likely will be appealing the ruling.
