KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The no-contact advisory on Portage Creek and the Kalamazoo River has now been lifted.
Back on April 3, a crash between a motorcycle and a semi-tractor trailer at Portage and Alcott Streets caused approximately 40 gallons of diesel fuel to leak onto the street.
A portion of the fuel leaked into the storm drain before Public Safety and Public Works personnel arrived to stop the leak. After the accident, the no-contact order was announced for the Portage Creek in impacted areas.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety announced the cancellation of the no-contact advisory Wednesday afternoon.
