BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – An occupant of a burning residence suffered minor burns while two dogs perished early Tuesday morning in a fire at 166 Grenville Street in Battle Creek.
The Battle Creek Fire Department says the blaze at the single family two story home was reported at 4:26 a.m..
Fire was showing from the first floor when crews arrived. All of the occupants got out safely before firefighters arrived.
It took about a hour to get the flames under control but not before the fire caused nearly $180,000 worth of damage.
The occupant who suffered minor burns to the hand tried to put the fire out before exiting the structure.
The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
