CHARLOTTE, MI — Charlotte has hired an interim fire chief and all 23 volunteer firefighters who resigned two weeks ago are back on duty.
Mark Jordan was announced as the interim chief Monday night and made the move to bring back the volunteer firefighters just a few moments later. He takes over for Robert Vogel, who resigned two weeks ago.
The volunteer firefighters quit in protest last month over allegations that Mayor Michael Armitage meddled in the department and violated the city charter by doing so. Armitage has so far declined to discuss the incident with the media.
