OWOSSO, MI – One of mid-Michigan’s hidden restaurant gems will remain closed. The owners of Lula’s Louisiana Cookhouse and Lily Pearl’s Lounge in downtown Owosso say they will not reopen after a fire destroyed the building in December 2021.
John and Morgan Beilfuss made the announcement on the restaurant’s Facebook page this week. The couple says they remain open to a possible new project.
Lula’s enjoyed spectacular critical reviews from numerous area newspapers, including Lansing’s City Pulse. The restaurant was known for its southern fried chicken and hams. The following note to customers was found on its website: “Every plate is flavor forward, our cuisine is rustic, plentiful and not spicy unless you ask for it to be.”
