KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Michigan Department of Transportation is continuing to forge ahead on it’s project to widen I-94 from Lovers Lane to Sprinkle Road and rebuild the Portage Road interchange.
As a result, there will be some lane closures starting on Monday, March 28, on Portage Road.
The lane closures will occur between Banbury Road north of I-94 and Byrd Drive located south of I-94. Two-way traffic to be maintained, MDOT says motorists should expect congestion and delays, especially during peak travel times.
The westbound I-94 ramp to Portage Road also will be closing on Monday, March 28 as well with westbound traffic being detoured at the I-94 Business Loop, Exit 81, Sprinkle Road, and Cork Street.
MDOT officials are looking to have the I-94 rebuilding project completed by Tuesday, December 20, 2022.
