KALAMAZOO MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A stolen vehicle report escalated into a high speed pursuit and multiple charges against three juveniles Tuesday afternoon.
Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety investigators notified Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputies of a stolen vehicle in the vicinity of Stadium Drive and 6th Street.
When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, it sped off, with the Sheriff’s Department declining to pursue it.
Michigan State Police troopers spotted the vehicle on I-94 near the Portage Rd exit, and began to pursue it in the direction of Sprinkle Rd.
The vehicle was disabled on Kilgore Rd near Portage Rd., and the juvenile suspects fled, stealing a construction truck. Sheriff’s deputies resumed the pursuit at this time.
The truck struck several other vehicles, coming to a stop on Romence Rd., where the suspects once again fled on foot.
K-9 units were brought in, and the suspects were located nearby the abandoned truck and arrested.
Each suspect faces numerous charges, and all three are being held at the County Juvenile Home.
