WMU Public safety officer recovering after head-on collision with suspected drunk driver

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Western Michigan University Public Safety officer is recovering after the police vehicle was hit head-on by a suspected drunk driver.

In a Facebook post, WMU Public Safety showed a photo of the damaged cruiser. The officer was assisting a neighboring agency off campus last Friday, March 4 when the vehicle was hit by a suspected drunk driver.

The WMU officer was in the vehicle at the time and is recovering at home, according to the Facebook post, which also said “We want to remind everyone to always find a sober ride- No excuses!”
