KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo City Commissioners have lifted the mask mandate for their meetings, but many of the other restrictions imposed to protect the public will remain in place for now at Kalamazoo City Hall.
Commissioners still plan to wear their masks and they are still urging anyone who attends their sessions to do likewise, but they won’t require it after health officials now say the danger is easing.
Commissioner Chris Preadel was the lone dissenting vote.
Social distancing, limited entrances and other city hall rules will remain in place, which also is in concert with health department advisories.
Mask mandates currently remain in place in Kalamazoo Public Schools and in Western Michigan University classrooms, but it remains voluntary in most other places as the pandemic has entered its third year.
