BARRY COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police have identified the Barry County man who died on Friday, March 4, in a cycling accident.
82-year-old Paul Andrew Sweetland of Hastings was traveling northbound on his bike on M-43 Highway near Mary Lou Drive when he crashed into the rear a disabled vehicle a few minutes before 3:30 p.m.
Sweetland was airlifted to Butterworth Hospital for treatment where he later passed away from his injuries.

BARRY COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Deputies from the Barry County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a single motor vehicle crash involving a cyclist on North M-43 Highway near Mary Lou Drive.
Authorities say the crash happened on Friday, March 4, at approximately 3:23 p.m.
A vehicle was disabled on the shoulder of the roadway when the 82-year-old cyclist of Barry County was traveling northbound on M -43 Highway and collided with the rear of the vehicle.
The victim was transported to the hospital by helicopter for medical treatment where he passed away as a result of his injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
Barry County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Barry County Central Dispatch, Hastings Fire Department, Mercy EMS, and AeroMed.
