BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Calhoun County investigators are searching for the remains of a missing woman after her accused killer Derek Horton agreed to take investigators to where he left her body.
Prosecutors paused the trial on day two, Wednesday, March 2, offering Horton a plea deal if he led investigators to the remains of his then-girlfriend, 27-year-old Amber Griffin, who vanished more than a year-and-a-half ago.
Calhoun County Prosecutor David Gilbert says the plea deal is conditional on finding the body.
Griffin was last seen alive at a Battle Creek house party in June 2020. Prosecutors charged Horton with murder days after she was reported missing.
This is a developing story, and updates will be posted as soon as they are available.
