LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Battle Creek state senator has introduced a plan in Lansing that would provide up to $1,500 in Learning Loss Grants to Michigan students whose education has been affected by pandemic closures.
Sen. John Bizon, M.D. Tuesday presented a plan that he says will provide critical resources for students. “Getting tutoring dollars directly to families will enable them to address the areas and subjects where their students have struggled most. Better educational outcomes benefit everyone in the community. These tutoring dollars will help.”
Under Senate Bill 925, the Tutoring Dollars for Kids plan, families would be able to spend the money on tutoring, summer courses, and certain educational supplies.
Learning Loss Grants would be open to all Michigan families with priority given to low-income students who have been most affected by school closures.
