KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners will go into closed session Tuesday afternoon for second interviews with three finalists for their top administrative position.
The county has filled in with interim administrators since Tracie Moored resigned last summer.
The board interviewed six finalists last week and they have narrowed the list down to three candidates. None of their names have been released.
Commissioners seemed to be happy with the qualifications of the candidates, who were sought out and screened by an executive headhunting firm.
County Commission Chair Mike Quinn:
Ryan Cotton with the consulting firm says a speedy process is important because Kalamazoo County is competing with other communities for these same candidates.
Commissioner Fran Bruder Melgar says that also means courtesy is important:
At some point the board will have to reveal the names of the finalists. Officials say most of the candidates would prefer that their current employers not know they are looking for other jobs.
